We know that music education programs are deeply valued in K-12 schools throughout the world. Everyone understands their responsibility to the creative pursuits of young minds and therefore, music education is supported in public education by all constituents-- students, parents, educators, administrators, education boards, and community.

Over the past ten years, through research and ongoing conversations, the focus of The Music Stand Foundation is changing. While still advocating strengthening the amount of time every student receives with music teachers, and ensuring consistent delivery and building of programs over time, The Music Stand Foundation now focuses toward research in the areas of creating and composition in K-12 public music education programs and develops music education curricula related to composing, technology, and virtual environments for all music teachers and music students.

As well, the vision of The Music Stand Foundation is to further the study of creativity in public school classrooms and arts education programs through development of opportunities for both students and music teachers that envelop musical creativity and writing music. Through funding.

The Music Stand Foundation raises money to support Music Tech Café – Young Composers Ensemble^TM, a professional development program that places music teachers and music students together in the same room to develop essential experiences around songwriting, composing, and arranging.

Cadence Academy - Creating and Composition Group Classes and Private Lessons

ACOUSTIC & TECH

Come practice your songwriting and composing skills during summers with Dr. Lisa A. Crawford, California Music Educators Association Creating and Composing Representative.

For both K-12 students and music educators! You will be able to choose from collaboration with digital apps in group classes or private lessons, piano and keyboards, acoustic rhythm instruments, a variety of genres such as jazz and blues, and develop your composing plans for the coming year.

K-2 Children! Group music classes that focus children on creating their own music in a variety of  projects!  Meets once or twice weekly in a very comfortable San Pedro studio.  Parents may stay or return after the completion of each one-hour meeting.

Grades 3—12 Students! Cadence Academy will support your exploration of notation and music production software through a variety of musical genres using our curriculum, Music Tech Café. You may also wish to get involved with our Los Angeles Young Composers Ensemble also during the summers or our vocal ensemble, San Pedro Music Project!.

Teachers! Experience integrating composition into your approach to teaching music with K-12 students using technology and acoustic instruments. Bring your teacher friends for a group experience or come for private lessons! This summer, Cadence Academy is open to any grade level music educator, K-16. Watch for the Fall 2018 schedule!
